At Burleson Law, we believe clients should have as much information as reasonably possible before deciding to hire an attorney.

Some legal matters are predictable enough that we can offer a flat fee. Other matters depend heavily on the actions of another party, opposing counsel, the court, or circumstances that cannot be known at the beginning of the case. Those matters are generally handled on an hourly basis.

Either way, we will explain the fee arrangement before you hire us.

Flat-Fees - Family Law

Some family law matters are predictable enough that we can tell you what your legal fees will be before we begin.

For qualifying agreed and uncontested matters, Burleson Law offers flat-fee representation with a simple payment structure:

50% of the attorney’s fee is due when you hire us, together with applicable filing fees and anticipated case expenses. The remaining 50% is not due until your case is ready to be finalized.

Court costs, filing fees, service fees, certified copies, record fees, social studies, amicus or ad litem fees, publication costs, QDRO preparation, deed preparation or recording fees, and other third-party expenses are separate from the attorney’s flat fee unless specifically stated otherwise in your engagement agreement.

Flat-fee representation is available when the parties have reached, or are able to reach without contested litigation, an agreement on all material issues. If a matter becomes contested, requires substantial negotiation, discovery, mediation, temporary orders, or contested hearings, a different fee arrangement may be required.

Flat-Fee Examples - Family Law

AGREED DIVORCE - WITHOUT CHILDREN & no assets*

Starting at $2,500**

Payment: $1,250 plus filing fees and anticipated case expenses to begin. The remaining $1,250 is due before finalization.

Agreed Divorce - Without Children, with assets*

Starting at $3,200**

Payment: $1,600 plus filing fees and anticipated case expenses to begin. The remaining $1,600 is due before finalization.

AGREED DIVORCE - WITH CHILDREN & no assets*

Starting at $3,700**

Payment: $1,850 plus filing fees and anticipated case expenses to begin. The remaining $1,850 is due before finalization.

Agreed Divorce - With Children & with assets*

Starting at $4,500**

Payment: $2,250 plus filing fees and anticipated case expenses to begin. The remaining $2,250 is due before finalization.

Agreed Custody, paternity, child support, or Modification matter*

Starting at $3,500**

Payment: $1,750 plus filing fees and anticipated case expenses to begin. The remaining $1,750 is due before finalization.

Agreed Stepparent Adoption*

Starting at $3,000**

Payment: $1,500 plus filing fees and anticipated case expenses to begin. The remaining $1,500 is due before finalization.

Agreed traditional or relative Adoption*

Starting at $3,500**

Payment: $1,750 plus filing fees and anticipated case expenses to begin. The remaining $1,750 is due before finalization.

Agreed Child Support Modification or Arrearage Resolution*

Starting at $2,500**

Payment: $1,250 plus filing fees and anticipated case expenses to begin. The remaining $1,250 is due before finalization.

Essential Estate Plan: Individual*

Starting at $995**

Payment: $700 plus any anticipated case expenses to begin. The remaining $295 is due before finalization.

Essential Estate Plan: Couple*

Starting at $1,750**

Payment: $1200 plus any anticipated case expenses to begin. The remaining $550 is due before finalization.

Trust-Based Estate Plan*

Starting at $3,500**

Payment: $2,000 plus any anticipated case expenses to begin. The remaining $1,500 is due before finalization.
